9 Unforgivable Mistakes Every Boyfriend Made In Middle School

Bad relationships are the hot topic on tonight’s episode of “Girl Code.” To get you pumped for the show, we’re reminding you of all the cringe-inducing moments that came along with dating as a teenager.
Middle school was a particularly unfortunate time for dating. Everybody wanted someone to “go out” with, but nobody really knew what “going out” meant. Boys unsurprisingly made a lot of slip-ups in these so-called relationships — which usually never lasted more than a week, tops. Here are the mistakes that broke, and continue to break, the hearts of 13-year-old girlfriends everywhere:
1. Not putting his girlfriend on top of his Myspace friends list

If he was her #1, she should have also been his #1. C’mon, this was basic Myspace etiquette.
2. Removing her from his AIM profile

This always signaled an imminent breakup.
3. Neglecting to respond to the notes she passed him in class

She risked getting detention to pass him that note!
4. Sitting next to his friends (not his girl!) on the bus during a field trip

He just voluntarily forfeited the opportunity to make out in the backseat. Good job, dude.
5. Saying “brb” in an instant message and never returning

It would have taken exactly the same amount of effort — and letters — to type “gtg.” Sigh.
6. Making fun of her lunch table crew

This was just plain mean. Nobody likes gossip queens or kings.
7. Refusing to dance with her at the school dance

Ouch. Why didn’t he just stab her in the heart? That would have been less painful.
8. Secretly having a crush on her best friend

It wasn’t the first time a guy used a girl to get to her friend…but that didn’t make him any less of an a–hole.
9. Chickening out of breaking up with her

He got his friend to dump her instead. Clearly, he wasn’t worth a single teenage tear.
