Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata could soon find himself back in the La
Liga, this time in the colours of Atletico Madrid, according to reports in The Daily Star.
Mata was the toast of the Premier
League only two years ago, but after an acrimonious fall out with Jose Mourinho
that led to his exit from Stamford Bridge, he arrived at Manchester United,
only to find himself once again warming the bench under Louis Van Gaal. With
United still struggling to exert themselves in the League, perhaps an exit
would not be the worst thing in the world for the 26 year old.
Diego Simeone is believed to be
preparing a £20 million bid for Mata who cost the Red Devils £37.1 million just
one year ago. The Argentinian manager is looking to add that extra bit of flair
and creativity to his midfield as he tries to replicate his unprecedented
success from last season. Besides the Champions League runners up, Juventus as
well as Mata’s former club Valencia are interested. However given Atletico’s
pedigree in recent times, it should not really be a difficult decision for the
Spain international if he has already made up his mind about forsaking the colours
of United.
