Manchester United may not have yet reached title winning form, but they’ve
certainly got the ball rolling in the transfer market. BBC Sport has reported that the Red Devils have reached an
agreement with Ajax regarding the transfer of Dutch international Daley Blind.
A club statement has been issued,
which reads, “Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached
agreement with Ajax to sign Daley Blind, subject to a medical and personal
terms."
Blind has been on Louis Van
Gaal’s radar ever since he took over the reins at United. The Dutch tactician
is now responsible for over £144 million worth of transfer activity, which
includes Blind’s £13.8 million transfer fees. LVG is determined to build his
squad from the ground up and is leaving no stones unturned in the process.
Daley is the son of former
Netherland international Danny Blind and came through the youth ranks of Ajax.
He impressed in the World Cup with Netherlands in Brazil and has won 4
successive Dutch League titles with Ajax. Blind can play at both the left back
and defensive midfield position and comes with the reputation of being declared
‘Dutch Footballer of the Year’ in 2014.
Manchester United had earlier
recruited Luke Shaw, who is a specialist in the left back position. It will be
interesting to see how LVG incorporates the two players into the squad, when
they are both fit and available.
