With their defensive woes piling up with each successive day, Arsenal have sent
their scouts far and wide to avert a similar disaster in the foreseeable future
and senior scout Pat Holland may have just found the next big thing in English
football, according to reports in the Mirror.
Ipswich Town left back Tyrone
Mings is the latest youngster to have caught Arsene Wenger’s fancy after seeing
his value go from £10,000 to £10 million in just two years. Mings arrived at
Ipswich Town from non-league Chippenham in 2012 and has since established
himself as one of the Championship’s premier talents, with manager Mick
McCarthy even earmarking him for international greatness.
The 6 feet 3 inch well-built
defender even had a seven year spell at Southampton’s famous youth academy, but
had to be let go due to financial constraints. The 21 year old signed a 3 year
contract with Ipswich last September, which means his services won’t come cheap
for the Gunners.
After giving Calum
Chambers his big break, Wenger could pull off a similar act with Mings if he
plays his cards right. The professor has already made plain his intentions of
buying a defender in the winter, it remains to be seen if he opts for home
produce ahead of imports.
