Alexis Sanchez could soon find himself among familiar faces if Arsene Wenger
succeeds in cajoling his former teammates to follow in the Chilean’s path. The
Express reports that Arsenal could once again return to their favoured hunting
ground of the Camp Nou, this time to attempt an audacious double swoop for Dani
Alves and Pedro Rodriguez.
Alves is out of contract with
Barcelona at the end of this season, while Pedro has seen his stock fall with
the Spanish heavyweights following the arrival of Luis Suarez in the summer.
Wenger is looking to land both players at a combined fee of £30 million.
However, he will have to remain wary of rival interests from the familiar foes
Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City.
Wenger’s need for
defensive reinforcement is not news, however with Mathieu Debuchy returning
early next year, the professor would be more keen to add central defensive
options to his line-up, which makes a bidding for a 31 year old full back
rather unlikely. Similarly, given the form of Alexis Sanchez as well as the
early availability of both Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott, the need for a
Pedro is not well-defined to say the least.
