It took Meek Mill about 7 working days to respond to Drake’s diss track but Nicki evened the score with Miley in a matter of 0.001 seconds at this year’s MTV VMAs.
During her acceptance speech after winning Best Hip-Hop Video for “Anaconda”, Minaj thanked her Barbz for their support throughout her career and encouraged young people to seek independence. This was followed by a shout out to her pastor, which wasn’t weird at all compared to the contrast of what came next. Nicki concluded her speech with a call out to Miley Cyrus who had shared her opinions on the female in a New York Times interview days earlier. Nicki said, “…And now, back to this b**** that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley, what’s good?!” to which Miley replied, “Nicki, congratuf***kinglations.”
Minaj's anger stems from Miley’s comment during the New York Times interview in which she was asked about the rapper's Twitter spat with Taylor Swift. Miley reportedly said, "I saw that. I didn’t really get into it. I know there was some beef. I don’t really know. There’s a way to talk to people... What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite. I think there’s a way you speak to people with openness and love."
